‎Hello everyone,

It’s a wonderful day yet again. God has been so faithful to keep us in His love.

I woke up with the phrase (“The real struggle”) ‎playing over and over in my mind. The Bible verse that came to mind was the one where Paul talked about keeping his body subdued lest after preaching, he also should be castaway – I kid you not, this has also been one of my greater fears!  (1 Corinthians 9:27)

The challenge most times (and I speak for myself here…) is lacking the will power or discipline to do what needs to be done as a child/servant of God to grow in His grace. Naturally speaking, growing shouldn’t be a struggle as long as one is living and eating right. But truth be told, we don’t usually like our veggies or exercise! We need to feed on the Word and stay active in His presence if we would grow spiritually even if it ‘seems’ unpalatable to our flesh.

For me, a lot of times, reading the Word just seems repetitive and I don’t ‘feel’ like doing it – but I need it right? Just like my veggies (lol). So a strategy given to me by my Teacher (the Holy Spirit) is to read it in a different translation every time I pick it up. (Personal preferences include Amplified, the Message and NLT).

Take, for example, the following verse:

Therefore, my dearly beloved, shun (keep clear away from, avoid by flight if need be) any sort of idolatry (of loving or venerating anything more than God). (1 Corinthians 10:14 AMP).

The explanation in parentheses of what idolatry is wowed me. It makes me think about any and everything I have desired more than His presence – for me, that reality is shocking!

Remember guys, I’m just sharing my heart here. What I’m suggesting or offering shouldn’t be taken as the solution to each person’s challenge, but I believe that iron does indeed sharpen iron. Let’s take one step at a time on this journey towards our destination – GOD!!! He should be all we’re living for.

God bless you as you dive into the Word today… and pray for all of us for a desire to dive back into His Word so we can grow and not be weaklings and, more importantly,‎ cast aways!

God bless you,
